Brilliant Books

Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski

Blood of Elves is the first novel in The Witcher series. I was introduced to The Witcher by my boyfriend who plays the video game. He was the one who told me that the video game was based off of a book series. Fast forward two years, and my boyfriend excitedly tells me that The Witcher is being adapted into a tv series on Netflix, and the lead Geralt is being played by none other than Henry Cavill (Superman!). So here I am desperately trying to read the books before the show comes out (December 2019??). I bought the first novel, then my boyfriend found out that the first season is most likely going to be based on two novellas of short stories and got them both for me for my birthday.

Last night, I finally finished reading Blood of Elves. I have mixed feelings about it. The beginning and ending of this particular book were both INCREDIBLY SLOW. Oh my gosh were they slow. But the middle was pretty decent, it got interesting, back story was filled in, pretty decent. I’m enjoying the characters, Geralt, Ciri and Triss Marigold. Not sure yet what I think of Yennefer, I’m sure time will tell with her.

So, if you’re thinking of diving into the world of Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher, and Blood of Elves is getting you down, have hope, and check back here for my reviews of the rest of the series.

  1. I bought this book for my birthday this year because I also found out about the series. The show looks really good, from the trailers, let’s see if the book is even better!
