Nasi Goreng is an Indonesian fried rice dish. My boyfriend’s family makes this as a family recipe. While they’re not Indonesian, his great grandfather apparently served in Indonesia during WWII. I suppose he learned to make it while he was stationed there.
My boyfriend makes it by frying pieces of pork chops in vegetable oil. He cooks rice in a separate pot. Once the pieces of pork are cooked, he adds them to the pot of rice. He uses a spice packet, simply called ‘Nasi Goreng’, to add flavouring and “vegetables”. It’s a fairly simple and tasty recipe and I love it whenever he’s willing to cook it.
