This novel has some triggering content. Be aware of: murder; child abuse; predatory relationships.
The Chalk Man was recommended to me by a bookstore worker back in the summer. I started it, got side tracked and recently picked it up again a couple of days ago and really got into it. It was an easy read as far as writing style and the plot went. Some of the content was a bit harder to read.
I didn’t find this novel “stay awake scary” as the review on the cover suggests it is. However, it was a captivating read and one on the darker side of things.
I really enjoyed how the story flipped between past and present. And I found the main character, Eddie, to be quite interesting. He was a bit predictable but also hard to figure out.
I really enjoyed the ending as well, and thought it wrapped up nicely.
