Brilliant Books

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

This book was fantastic! The plot was great, the characters were amazing, and the ending, never would have seen it coming. Fabulous!

A warning to readers though, there are no trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, and I think there really needed to be. So if you are triggered by the following, please proceed with caution if you choose to read this book. TW: rape, drug abuse, child sexual abuse, murder, gore.

The story follows Alex, a freshman student at Yale, the new Dante at Lethe House. She is under the tutoriage of her Virgil, Darlington. Lethe House monitors the rituals of the Eight Houses, secret societies that deal in magic.

Alex must deal with unruly frat boys, ghosts, disappearances, murders, and societies that get away with everything just because it’s donation year. The ultimate coverup.

There are many unexpected twists and turns throughout the story, with Bardugo holding the reader’s attention captive throughout. I had a hard time putting this book down, and hopefully you will too.

The story ends with the possibility of a sequel, and I’ve heard that it will be an entire series. Here’s hoping. 🙂
